In an all-important needful way, there is a path to easing into the New Year, along with a solution to do the same for yourself during the winter. This wondrous elixir is bottled as Twelve'Len's Nick León-produced song "Winter Dickie Set."

The musical counterpart to positive images of certain aspects of Black Americana, specifically Southern Black Americana, "WDS" feels like a dance of unconditional love not only for the Queen to the Florida native's Slim (minus the killing of an officer in self defense), but for himself, our people and the listener as well. The second Nick's gawsy chords, wining drums and Trillville callback hit, Twelve'Len's halcyon melodies and rose from the dirt songwriting melt melanin like chocolate into the pulse of the music. A piece of the culture is gifted with a sound that bestows that portion of said culture with a deserved attentiveness and showcase.

And had it not been for Evan Ressler's direction of the moving cover for this song, I don't think the music could have such an encompassing circumference of charm.
