As winter quickly approaches, San Francisco-based artist Alex Szotak rides the seasonal change to all things yee-haw on the smiling record "Closer to Me." And might I say, after listening to the song, I am ready to be fitted for my coat of many colors, black felt cowboy hat and sweetheart on my arm to share a lifetime with.

Paced like you're watching the world go by as you rock back and forth on your porch, "Closer to Me" saddles the production with a pearly main guitar riff insulating your heart and world from heartbreak and doubt. The soft addition of nutmeg drums and earthy bass chords protect Alex Szotak's flowy melodies in the vocals that evoke the fuzzy feeling from reflecting on a special day.

The stability of the main rhythm and melody make the changes during the song's bridge that of turmoil -- a distorted progression, itchy electric guitar chords, and to all appearances distant wails calling after Anthony Kiedis running in the "Under The Bridge" video -- enabling this section of Szotak's "Closer to Me" to sound like the misplacement of something good. In turn this resonates in making the rekindling resolution during the acoustic outro the most gentle moment on the track, wrapping the song like a gift secured with a turquoise bolo tie. And proof that through music, real hard-working love conquers all.
