I love when music hands you a universal truth. They are few and far in between, but one of my favorite strands of gospel going today is how pure producer V Don's beats are cut. How as a rapper, in order to place raps on these beats, you better come "cut from that cloth that you couldn't stretch" and your pedigree so below the dirt you had dreams of the gutter. Or at the very least you'd better rap like it.

Brooklyn spitter Radamiz makes food of those markers.

The "Nothing Changes If Nothing Changes" cut "V.I.M." exists forever with one eye open and at least one hand on a check, with the other on what's concealed. Radamiz breaches the gates of the track throwing A cappella haymakers wrapped with an authoritative cadence rendering a menacing image. His switching flow, rapt tones, ill metaphors and storytelling nuggets keep Radamiz away from feeling above what he is made of, though he has to be to avoid any grave missteps and calculations. As well as outrun the quicksand V Don loaded in the production to trap him deeper in the mud.

"V.I.M.'s" disrespectful beat stands over you after a beating, rushing to mind the image of "Def Jam Vendetta's" outro victory taunts. Searing drums and percussion serrated in sound have a dormancy to their violence tucked inside the rhythm. V Don's watchful horn adlibs shape a feeling of insomnia and paranoia in the music, but he taps the release valve and leaves the track in a state of interpretation by the creamy, solo Saxophone section beaming a blue light on a Gordon Parks photo during the outro of the song.

Radamiz's unyielding rhyming and V Don's unforgiving beat propagate an environment not for the faint of heart. Only they sound equipped to deal with the goings-on in this world. So just be a bystander and enjoy the slog.
