Was it all real or was everything just a figment of imagination? Or could this just be the arduous look at what love turned obsession is doing to somebody. Yeah, that must be it. If not, then the Matthew Castellanos-directed, Joyce Wrice starring video for Victor Internet's leading single "Veins" is emotional torture porn and honestly, it works for me on both levels.

Leaps of growth are typically never this flagrant and blue streaked. Internet's symbolically laced visuals match his music in being the most trim and connected pieces of work. The storyteller's riff and melody over the chord progression that intros "Veins" sets up the gruesome scenes we're about to hear and see, straightening out the structure both musically and visually before Victor quite literally loses his head from what he is going through. Our Manny (from the movie "Swiss Army Man") dressed protagonist plainly washes up on the beach: wandering, floating, drowning and shedding the weighted suit constricting him.

The blend of the unruly music, clear sound, tight song structure and misfit visuals prop the other up and put on full display the notch-up Victor Internet has taken. Hands down his finest chorus, the "Portra 400" artist is making room in his music to just sing and showcase the instrumentation of a song and, with videos like this, tell the larger narrative in a way they haven't yet.

And we can all be fans of his growth.
