Yes! How I love a good posse cut. Songs like 1 Train, Scenario and Vice City are among the greatest and some of my favorites. Traditionally a posse cut is reserved for rap tracks, but I haven't been snagged from the opening lines and the sound of those lines in pop stylings quite like this before.

Chicago's Kenny Bureaux manufactured a Couch remix that is anything but typical. The Victor!, Sam Moonrise, Zookie and Clocktown featured song identifies the youth in love, boredom, sadness and choices -- having fun and time to figure all of it out from one place. The Kenny Bureaux-produced song (guitar by Sam Moonrise and sax by Zookie) acts as mood lighting for the living room Couch's cover art bares, which interestingly looks like the living room in the final scene of Road House.

Bureaux's production draws the blinds using a sheeny chord progression to let in what sounds and translates as all the possibilities from this couch. Moonrise's plucky rhythm guitar is the earliest rumblings of the cherished rhythm that is convincingly this song's bread and butter. The bare maximum drums and wooden 808 percussion drop in sounding like a mini party in my ears. And by Zookie's saxophone flex on the instrumental break, couch is slow dancing with a clear mind. The earliest to join the party is Victor!, and man, what a guest he is.

The opening layered, borderline chipmunk vocals immediately flesh out a doughy melody, easily pulled in every emotional direction the lyrics go in. The second guest's vocals on the chorus run an asthmatic tone in a call and response method on his lyrics. The chorus gathers up all the mess in a sane way to chuck it towards Zookie. Zook's solicitous verse goes after what he wants, working to get who he wants on the couch next to him. He wraps up Couch Remix in a way that blacks out the screen when the kissing starts. In short, everyone did their thing. Couch is a certified bop. And you will undoubtedly be stuck on the couch listening to it.
