If you're going to kick off your song interpolating one of hip-hop's greatest, Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh's La Di Da Di, I will most likely champion your song off rip. Olukara's lovibe-produced and featured song Darkskin Girls owns that, ultimately embedding it inside its own journey of love and appreciation.

Darkskin Girls hints of Mos Def's Ms. Fat Booty in terms of sentiment. Olukara's line "booty big enough to see it from the front" hits my ear as a direct line to Mos' line "Ass so fat that you can see it from the front!" His sanguinely enraptured cadence sounds as if it's vocalizing confidence to her about her complexion, body and hair, shining like dark melanin tends to do.

The Brooklyn artist's lyrics truly put the perspective into his eyes. He pens about seeing her clothes, products, her relationship situation and the disregard for it because of their energy. Olukara's raps vibe well with lovibe's looping voicemail background vocals. Their pairing to me sounds like a moment in and of itself. Combine that with peppered snares and grainy percussion that converges olukara and the topic of darkskin girls in a shyness approach, and you've got an extremely dope song with something greater to say.
