Two producers, two artists, and a body of fantastic music that's ready to shift any dour mood to a built-up electric boogie eager for an escape through dance. That's what the British Nigerian collective New Age Muzik's CARTUNES succeeds at in every way imaginable.

The 7-track Afro-beat music focused EP is 21-minutes of music that is purely felt. The drums throughout have that knock and bounce that begins at your feet and hit you in your chest. The hand percussion instruments are light, fun and promote dancing with the most adoptable pockets of rhythm. The vocals (predominately from Kamo, Dami Bones and Prince) have that authentic, immediately recognizable dialect that shouldn't be imitated at risk of taking the love and pride out of the music. They sound like they're in constant movement and it sounds so great. I can't stress that enough. CARTUNES sounds good. This tape is authentically them; this is their music birthed from their culture and you can hear the joy and celebration in the music. The music is wavy, warm, often adopting tropical atmospheres and radiates feelings of happiness. For me, CARTUNES brings me back to the feeling I have when being around my best friends. It's unforgettable. Time zips by and it's non-stop fun. That is what New Age Muzik's CARTUNES is. Watch Out, All For U, DM's, Trending Topic, Ala, Jon Snow (spoiler: I'm ecstatic Jon Snow's alive,) and Da Beat are all great high-energy songs. And you know it when you can't pick your favorite. So all thanks to Notch, Dami Bones, Kamo and Prince. CARTUNES is something people need to hear. And I'm glad this piece is that bridge to the music.
