Derek Luh is a problem -- and I knew it when I thought he quietly had one of the coldest tapes last year with Hollywood Blvd. And to no one's surprise Derek Luh's newest joint LORD WILLIN' (prod. by J Cuse) doesn't move from that lethal lane.

LORD WILLIN' is sick. Everything about this track sounds like it's about to hit a lick. J Cuse's beat has these sharp 808s prepping to cut with the precision of a doctor's scalpel. His serious drums have a certain bounce that jug your head up and down. Cuse has these dope horn-like keys that creep to the g-funk synths, bringing in that West Coast vibe that I love. I thought the creepy fun sound had a certain summer vibe to it that taps into the obvious elation of greatness of summer in Cali, but inadvertently (or purposely) has the scariness of 100 days 100 nights. It sets Derek Luh up to rep Cali effortlessly in that manor and have his verses in the song come up like he's gripping that lyrical chrome. It was nasty. Derek Luh snaps on LORD WILLIN' if you ask me. His Pac line is how I'm always feeling, he flows smoothly and spits from the mindset of a fiend on his non-stop grind. What makes for a harder track than that?

LORD WILLIN' is some real West Coast sh*t that was too cold to hear today. Derek Luh's bars are not to be tried and I can't wait to see how far they take him.
