Kanye West's "FACTS" is Lazy, Unlike Him & His Weakest Song

This final fourth quarter surge was impressive for the most part. I didn't expect to receive so much music from so many artists, and especially not Kanye West. The creator of many classics (like "Late Registration", "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" and "808s & Heartbreak") dropped off this new track entitled "FACTS" and it's easily the worst Ye song I've heard and the biggest disappointment of the year.

The track that was teased all day ends up being an odd Nike diss track camouflaged as a variation of Drake and Future's "Jumpman" set to one of the most lazy Metro Boomin' x Southside beats that started promising, but finished weak . I've always thought of  Kanye West as a musical genius who always created the trends in music and had something to say. We saw it with "808s", we saw it with "Yeezus" and we saw it with "Graduation". But with this song all he's doing is following the musical trends. Yeezy is hitting the same exact flow Drake had as he promotes his shoes. The entire hook of the song is a recycled bar from a far superior Kanye West song, "New God Flow", giving this track zero innovation. I don't know whether to take this song fully serious or not, but apparently this is a track off "Swish", so clearly it's serious.

I wish I could like this song, but plain and simple, I don't. "FACTS" felt like Kanye's attempt at trying to catch up to Drake. He's blatantly said before that Drake is practically running the show right now so it makes sense why he'd do this if he feels left behind. I just can't get behind this track in any way. None of Ye's lines are funny or smart, nor do they sound like the Kanye I know and love, for every element lacks personality. My mood is definitely f**ked up going into 2016 because of this. I sincerely hope we get nothing like this in the new year. At least the cover art is dope though.

Listen to "FACTS" here.
