The Visuals for Missy Elliott's "WTF (Where They From)" is Beyond Outstanding & Further Proves Her Greatness

The true queen of hip-hop is back! Missy Elliott links up with her long time collaborator Dave Meyers to direct a video for her song "WTF (Where They From)" ft. Pharrell Williams that doesn't miss a beat.

The video literally picks up from where Missy left off. The visuals open with her groovin' to "WTF" in the most outrageous outfit - normal for Missy Elliott. As the visuals move along, there are certain images that act as a 'remember that' moment, like the little girl poppin' in the video. It's just like when she had Alyson Stoner in the "Work It" video, Missy keeps the same essence she's always had in her videos and music, but her sound sonically has progressed just enough to give the entire video a feeling of nostalgia along with the excitement of something new. The further the video gets, the stranger the visuals become: from the two-headed version of Missy Elliott to the cool-ass puppet versions of Missy Elliott poppin' and Pharrell grinding on another puppet, which just might be the greatest thing I've see all year. It's all perfectly weird, fun, entertaining and completely Missy Elliott from beginning to end. Her outfits are crazy, her bars go, her ad-libs are just as wacky and catchy as they've ever been. It's like she never even took a 10-year break. That's what separates an average artist from one that's great. Missy Elliott (and Pharrell) are both greats and this is a fantastic video. Saying I love it would be an understatement. Y'all just need to check it out.
