G Herbo x Joey Bada$$ Link with Metro Boomin for Their Lethal Track "Lord Knows"

Somehow the new Metro Boomin-produced, G Herbo x Joey Bada$$ track "Lord Knows" slipped past me yesterday. The song pairs up three of the most unlikely artists working together to create a marvelous blend of an Atlanta, Chicago and Brooklyn sound. The mixing of styles make for a special track that shows the versatility of Joey and Herbo while displaying the unique qualities of a Metro beat.

Right from the jump "Lord Knows" truly surprised me. Being a trio of artists I would have never cooked up in my wildest dreams made me wonder how "Lord Knows" was going to sound. I wasn't sure if the track would gravitate more to Drill, Trap or fit closer to a boom bap styling and honestly, it does a decent job accommodating all three. The beat entails Metro's punchy kicks, boomin' claps and almost muffled ticks that sound like some relentless rolling closed hi-hats from an 808. It all bumps in a very massive way that sets up some very harsh verses from Joey Bada$$ and G Herbo. Joey fits right in on the track, sounding real uninterested but hostile toward other less hardworking artists and anyone that thinks they can test him. It's a dope switch up from Joey's usual. I got a real feel of what it's like when Joey snaps on a song just for the sake of doing it. It is a fresh sound I definitely welcome from the Brooklyn MC.

Herbo, to no surprise, was already at home and very comfortable on this song. The Drill specialist wastes no time in addressing the fakes around him on a braggadocios tip. His self-made attitude works in tandem with Joey's verse and the hook, bringing a nice cohesiveness to "Lord Knows". It is definitely a song that works very well creatively and sonically. As a hip-hop enthusiast, these are collabs that I live for. To hear one of my favorite artists out (in Joey Bada$$) work with an unexpected but great artist (in G Herbo) where both show their versatility by working with one of, if not the hottest producer out right now, and drop a potent banger is phenomenal. You should want your favorite artists to grow and experiment. If they have the rapping chops to switch it up you shouldn't be mad at it. Both these artists do and "Lord Knows" shows for it. I like it a lot and it's definitely one I'll be listening to for a while.
