To No Surprise Kendrick Lamar Was Phenomenal on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert

Kendrick Lamar continuously raises the standard for greatness and he did so again last night. The Compton rapper great performed on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and I am completely mind blown (for the umpteenth time) at how amazing of an artist Mr. Duckworth is. Kendrick performed "Wesley's Theory," "Momma," the unapologetically black "King Kunta," and the powerfully heartfelt song "U". The songs from his album "To Pimp A Butterfly" were completely transformed here, just like Kendrick's live version of "i" the songs had more weight in every word that he spoke. Each song had a stronger feeling of poetry than ever before. The long pauses Lamar would take made each line before resonate with you. That style in which he was performing brought a wholly new dimension and understanding to the songs. He was in absolute sync with the crowd and it was felt. There was tension and that tension made the whole performance mesmerizing. It took my love for his music to a new height .

That performance was a beautiful thing. It played like poetry in motion and it was astonishing! It goes into why he's the greatest out. If he released a live version of "To Pimp A Butterfly" I'd be the first in line to buy it. I love his live performances more than anything and seeing this last night makes me want that to happen even more.

Check out the performance below.
