MF DOOM & Ghostface Killah Come Together as DOOMSTARKS for Their New Track "Lively Hood"

Ghostface Killah and DOOM Share New DOOMSTARKS Track

MF DOOM and Ghostface Killah dropped off a villainous new track yesterday entitled "Lively Hood". The two artists who work under the moniker DOOMSTARKS are a lethal duo here.

The DOOM-produced track offers up enough paranoia that it could be the score to Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho". The blaring horns create the feeling of someone being right on your back as they chase you. The relentless verse from Ghostface doesn't make you feel anymore safe or comfortable. His verse generates this strong belief that Ghost is coming for you and there's nothing anyone can do to stop him. It has us shaking in our boots like we're Action Bronson. By the time DOOM emerges from the shadows of the track, you're already completely unsettled. You now have Metal Face coming for ya' head so any feeling of security that was left goes out the window. His verse is ominous in glorious DOOM fashion. DOOM's reference to Boogie Down Productions' "The Bridge Is Over" truly made me geek out. It shows his hip-hop genius by how he flipped the line to fit who he is but still keeping that BDP essence. It was beautiful.

The end of "Lively Hood" creates a momentary feeling of relief. We made it through those pouncing verses and we're finally safe (until the sudden scare of the final sequence of the beat plays). It sounds similar to the opening of "Scooby Doo, Where Are You!" to me. It left me with a feeling of it's not over. So I hope we'll be seeing their DOOMSTARKS project sooner than we think because this was a great song. The world could always use more DOOM anyway.
