New music from Ymtk is like bumping into an old friend you haven't seen in years, but it is eternally nice to hear from them and learn they're still doing well. Coincidentally, the "What You Wish For" artist's song "Self Love" is practically an update on the process to self-progress regarding the matters of the heart.
Produced by Ekzakt and David Teel, "Self Love" manages to express like a visual journal entry in equal parts to the production and Ymtk's propitious vocals. A fluctuation between bass tremors and spitting 808s prior to the bass drum rolls and snappy snare drums on the bridge and exiting chorus share a tempered rhythm moving out the way for the melodies. His amiable melodies are especially heard in the strength of the chorus. The romantic planning in the songwriting for the verses promise a future dependent on Ymtk, proving he is worthy of one. The journal entry is being worked out as it's being written. A true testament to the work being put in for greater self love.
