Producer and frequent J'von collaborator, Grady, is no stranger to gratitude and the places the act and emotion can get you. In his latest pitch to the wall of unique sounds a six-track EP entitled "Motion" stuck and left us knowing what a smirk after the hard work sounds like.

The opening of Grady's colorful handbook of music, "Growth," sounds like the downtime score for the superhero found on the cover of Frank Zappa's cartoonish 1978 album "Studio Tan." Touch and go rhythms (synth bass & distressed drums) are subject to human timing through the beat switches and muck up the misty progression from his chords, but they do find their way. Once fully grown "Motion" produces wonderfully felt moments like the transition on track four into "Dilla Told Me." The dourly communicating synthesizer accented with the maudlin piano chords bring the tone of the music to an appreciative position or the closing chord work on "Jelly Fishin'." You will be hard pressed to find more thalassic and beatific notes and sounds. The backend of the track, the almost broken melody of it sounds like a standby intermission in his head while he searches for the next direction to take life.

"Motion" is filled with emotions, stagnancy, progress and by the final song, "Thank You," Grady finds a way to give back for listening to whatever type of discovery happens within these six beats. This is caring about music that cares about you and we all come out a little less foggy by the final second.
