The only identifiable trait in Carter Ace's music song-to-song is the LA-based artist's name, otherwise he is finding new camouflage behind rhythmic touchstones to various black bands and solo acts of the 1970's through the 1980's. Carter's latest video for the jam "On Gawd" supplements that sound, showing that his bars with a striding timbre, whirling bongo drums, chord progression dust-up, worming bass (with Daniel Durant) and performance captivate -- perhaps to his displeasure.

Directed by Noah Kentis, "On Gawd" looks on the "Slip" artist as he expatiates between a grassy plane, as if in a shared funky universe via The Internet's visuals for "Girl." Even in the scenes of normalcy set in the "The Wood" looking house you feel this facade keeping talent stuck in a loop to express one way, but Carter's cool to fake the funk for the moment.

The music and the visuals roll with it, ending up where they end up. And sometimes that can make for a cool ass life.
