Oakland's Elujay is moving into the space of dangerous songwriters, singers and musicians.

Each release from artists with the type of talent in question is able to create textured music good on a technical level, not to mention the level of feeling. His latest release, "Little Thangs", does not let up on that standard.

The Sir Dylan-produced song directs one motion under a groove. An "A funk odyssey"-inspired sounding bass line instantly pulls the rhythm in sharp directions, snagging onto spacey clavinet, synthesizer chord shots that A, work in another layer of movable rhythm and B, showcase a charming melody with the strings. A prayerful chord progression interchangeable with Elujay's background harmonies is catharsis within an already busy production made even more busy by "Little Thangs's" fracturing snare drum, skidding percussion and lead foot bass drum. Sir Dylan's production is organized loudness which makes the chord progression banter in the bridge a moment to grow closer within the context of the song, giving more credence to the shecky rhythm guitar on the outro, as well as the true moment lovers start moving as one. All more deeply felt and real from Elujay's vocals.

Elujay's vocals take shape in a way we haven't heard them before. The "Jentrify" artist's voice warmly radiates from his recording headphones. A bright falsetto powering the chorus is dominantly catchy, but something sexy sneaks up into the song from his vibrato. His worshipful melodies consume the entire song. They feel deep and appreciative.

If someone could sing about the fond times while already knowing they're in them, "Little Thangs" is what that sounds like. And that's one thang only Elujay can get off in such an incredible way as this.
