The Chicago duo The WHOevers have been unaccounted for in the past few months. Je$$e and Lloyd Dotdot have been suspected of cooking in the lab for their forthcoming project Down to Earth, dropping hints here and there, and they have delivered a cut with Teflon guts entitled G4B (Goin' 4 Broke).

The rowdy conversation spark is produced by Jesse and co-produced by 88Til, and in an untouched bout with the grind, G4B knocks struggle and fear the f**k out and does laps around the ring. The  basement busting bass and hollowed, tightly wound snare drums/rolls hit as the defiant fight jabbing adhere to the hate side of Radio Raheem's four-finger ring. The layers of chords ranging from a purse-proud progression to a groggy synth bass and lighter synth buzzes are always working. The production sounds like a machine against Je$$e and Lloyd through the counter-melody. If it wasn't for Jesse's vocals and Dotdot's raps, the resilience could not surface.

Lloyd Dotdot's opening verse is rejecting norms and taking his dreams back. His cadence is poised, yet the flow is bashed over all the obstacles in his way -- racial, financial, circumstantial, etc, carrying over to the second verse, even as the flow bounces off the pockets almost naturally. Jesse Manaois' deescalating vocals massage the temples in the context of G4B. His nervy vibrato and moments of harmonizing snowball into the hook, so once we get to that section of the song the track sounds resourceful.

G4B is getting up when you get knocked down, only the knock down never happened. This cut underscores knowing right away that you have to be off to the races. And what can hit harder than that?

Listen to G4B below.
