Who knew unbelievably beautiful things could come from being restless and surfing Bandcamp between five and seven in the morning?

On this particular day, our beautiful thing pops like Duval Timothy's introductory sounds from his yellow packaged third album, Sen Am.

The song in question, Whatsapp, is a gorgeous piece of music. The song presents its own stage of intermission regarding someone's life story. Timothy's sunken, taken by surprise scaling between the sonic curtsy of his chords offer Wa moments of reflection, bliss, regret and cheerfulness. I feel like I'm tuned to the matured emotions of a grandfather watching his kids play with their kids. The sheer execution of said chords intertwine a chalky bass so the atmosphere develops a jazzy head, maintaining patience note-to-note, the development and beats yielding something classical.

The dad-inspired phone message sample over the instrumentation provides fuel towards Whatsapp, carrying age and experience in its sound. Images of Freetown, Sierra Leone dominate as I listen. I think Duval Timothy is brilliant here. He lets his instrument of choice appropriately tell the story. And I believe it is time for all to listen.
