In the course of nearly four minutes of freeing sound, Jonti manages to soundscape his latest, Staring Window, to fit a screen crawl for a spaghetti western, observe the work space of a great thinker, emerge in Venice, Italy and conclude in a frolicking mind.

Staring Window's sound voyage is made possible through early ferric percussion and stoic harmonies glued to times of hardships. The sounds and thoughts then ship to a port of peculiar thought courtesy of a gorgeous progression with an attached difficulty of distinguishing horns from chords, even strings. And this is just for Staring Window's intro instrumental.

There is no mistaking that rapid picking on mandolin chords and finger plucking on acoustic to compliment Jonti's elemental melodies. The layering of his vocals in the final chorus project like a choir in an empty cathedral, reminiscent of the way Kanye West manipulates vocals on Ultralight Beam. The sound is grand and distant, then up close, save for mentioning the crazy extraterrestrial synths Gotye sprinkles around SW.

Staring Window, simply put, is some of the most engaging music I've heard in a long time. The technical side of Jonti is always damn impressive, but damn this guy creates beautiful visual music. It's a portal of music I'd say he's mastered.
