September is looking to be a fire month musically if drops like Thelonious Martin's One For Sean are destined to be our regularly scheduled programming.

Thelo's slight Sean Price (R.I.P) ode/flip hits my ear like an inadvertent petition to bring drums back. His snares sound like a cupped space with a hollow bottom welded with his percussion. I don't know how he manages a sound like this. It's insane. Those watery, crystallized melodies coming from his chords put the motion of the beat in your shoulders. The production rocks an attitude that points my imagination towards King Thelonious crafting this beat from Captain Kirk's command chair. And it merely forces Sean P's verse to snap harder.

Hearing P spit in Martin's designated pocket, rhyming in Jay Electronica's Exhibit C third verse flow -- one of the greatest verses/lyrical onslaughts of all time -- is the impetus for Sean's lyrical precision to slice in a muddier fashion.

One For Sean goes off and gets manifested in the most refined head bop. Needless to say, this is one to run. No questions asked.
