Artist ymtk's newest wave, Fall in Place, is an emotional badlands that he desperately wants to bring water to. And I've been happily looping the music ever since yesterday.
This Ekzakt-produced (Wax Roof Co-produced) bop is fast-tracking towards addictive. Fall in Place's intro backspin, the ghostly reversed vocals -- all have a reminiscent sound. It reminds me of the way Big Sean's Win Some, Lose Some starts. I love that sound. The flashback of it all is its own story. Their singular keys in between the chords waft amid the tenderness of the sound that is like a prolonged break-up dance. Downtempo 808s, muffled bursting drums and cracking kicks generate their own blue rhythm. The production feels single but is wanting for a relationship. Great vibes for ymtk to stop the drought.
ymtk's verses and hook are melodies of longing and lyrics of undeniable chemistry. His voice has a fluff to it, playing to his hopefulness. The hook about letting love blossom naturally is karaoke catchy. He sings in tempo with the 808s that it hits the ear so calmly. I can hear his patience and faithfulness for the relationship to happen. Fall in Place matches the cover art's color palate musically.
This is a real chill song. ymtk, I believe, will be an artist to keep checking for. Because Fall in Place is a definite wave.
