Alchemist gave the salute towards VDon's beats? Check. Tedy Andreas, the Houston rapper that can flow so nicely into the rhythm of many drums is on board? Check. And Slayter (who on this song big ups the ones before him) is representing, too? Again, check. I see all the makings for a dope song are in place. And their joint MEDUSA is just that.

VDon's beat is like little pop punches. His firecracking drums has that jump in the sound that produces out like taps on a drum pad. VDon's keys in a doubtful essence of Ring Ding Dong chime ripples of darkness in the track while his sharpening 808 percussion ticks hype up MEDUSA with a little bit of threat. It's a cold sound, in full connotation.

MEDUSA's verses, though, take that up a notch. Slayter's verse does a lot of things in this track. He interpolates 50 Cent's hook on P.I.M.P. into his hook as well as adopting 50's flow, just at a slower tempo. There's an ode to Pimp C and Eazy-E and his other influences. For a verse that has its savage moments, it is mad respectful to a few of hip hop's bests and greats. Dope stuff. Tedy Andreas brings a composed grit to the track. He lyrically lists off the hustles and flaunts to the very end of the verse. I hear Andreas' verse like he's ready to dead off anyone who wants it. That attitude in his voice carries over to me in my craft. And I like that.

The music is an unexpected motivator. A quality I always like to find in a song that is otherwise seeded as a banger.
