Self Provoked - Handcuffs (feat. Urie) is some hard rap sh*t that I love to hear. The energy this Kenny Segal-produced cut carries is an energy that's been long gone from hip hop as whole. This track makes it sound like rap is back to breathing as music for the counter-culture. Handcuffs in my opinion sounds like it's rolling with roots of rebellion. And I'm all for it.

Kenny Segal's beat kicks like a bitch. The opening cymbol pops awaken the track, with his overall bouncing drum break revealing a bit of anger in the makeup. The on-the-sly bassline (that is so familiar it's painful) has a grit freestyle groove to it. Kenny's scratching rips apart the track and gets back to extending the break. Handcuffs' beat catches a vibe so quick and I dig it 100 percent. Kenny Segal definitely produced a dope beat, one that allows Self Provoked to coast with his rhymes.

Self Provoked is flowing pretty nicely with Kenny Segal's kick and snare conversation going on throughout the track. Provoked's verse touches base about prison in the process of storytelling. Self's bars roll through his day chronologically as he rhymes about the false use of authority and power by the police. It's a dope song. Self Provoked on the hook takes on a flow that reminds me of the king, The Notorious B.I.G.'s flow during the line "Everybody move your body/ Got Whitney Houston boostin from Bobby" from Big's beast of a joint, Just Playing (Dreams). It's dope. Handcuffs is some timely rap that I believe pays homage. A quality in rap that is increasingly becoming scarce.

So y'all know what you gotta do. Spin it.
