I've been waiting on new music from The Nobodies for a while. It's been some time since we've ventured into their turnt, sometimes psychotic musical space and a lot has happened since the last piece I wrote on their music: they've scored a distribution deal through Blackhouse Records, jahrahmf's instrumentals thrown onto the XXL Freshman freestyles also achieved some notoriety from XXL and I'm sure a bevy of other accolades. But you all should know by now that music is king around here. The duo comes with a new project entitled Stay Dirty.

The 9-song project is something completely different from previous work from The Nobodies. Without spoiling too much, a lot of the songs crank down the ferocity and get more melodic. Stay Dirty ventures in different emotional musical spaces. The production is miscellaneous. There is a heavier use of keys. The song Revolt My Friends sounds birthed from the most bubbly candy cartoon that Bubbles herself from Power Puff Girls would love, while MTFR is flowing with raunchy bars and pretentious tones, testing the ego of his competitors. But even with MTFR and Jah's aggression in verses, or a chorus (which does exist throughout the tape,) the music sounds and feels lighter, more free and happier. The chord progression on my current favorite track, Celestial Virgin is incredibly chipper, putting a flare in the song and a pep in my step while the DDR-like drums tug at the dormant urge to dance through the BPM. ArtGodSavii is naturally draped all throughout the project, as well as artists K. Charles, She.Go, and Mr. Snuggems who only add to the strange so the chemistry on Stay Dirty is natural and easy to vibe with.

The Nobodies are diversifying their catalog with this body of work. It just dropped so no opinions as a totality are formed, but I have a hunch they killed it with this one.

The quality is a lot crisper. The Nobodies are snapping in a completely different way. So just stream Stay Dirty below and on Tidal, or Apple Music. Enjoy.
