Fresh from coming across DRAMA DUO in tandem with their song, Forever's Gone, I just had to express how awesome I think they are. All it took was this one song to get me fully interested in their tunes. I'm always amazed when I discover eclectic music in the wee hours of the night, and these two artists certainly are no exception.

DRAMA DUO's Forever's Gone does a lot of cool things through a rudiments perceived beat (courtesy of Na'el Shehade,) relatable lyrics and empathetic vocals from DRAMA DUO's other half, Via Rosa. Na'el's beat strongly carries in unspoken emotional responses that make Forever's Gone feel like a coming-of-age anthem. Shehade's rockin' 80's synths go through a progression that make it sound like guitar chords in a rapid strum. His drums are where pop collides with the synths. The drums (likely done with a standard drum machine or certain rhythm composer) along with the rippled background keys shoot in the light of having a crush that you will feel once you hear it. The complete sound of it is a call back to an era, even if it doesn't mean to be. It makes me think of 80's movies with millennials in the roles. Via Rosa's vocals are what give this synthpop teen-life score some dialogue.

Via Rosa plays with the young girl mindset of dreaming for your prince, the perfect man, and hits it with immediate reality that it may not happen. And she's perfectly fine with it. Her singing tells us that she's not afraid to be alone, amplified by such confidence in her voice and sung with a flow that moves like a solo dance. Filler ad-libs bring a complimentary frost of melody that heightens this independent path Via Rosa sings down. It sounds good and it's reassuring. The sonics of Forever's Gone draws toward that journey of adolescence but comes away with an understanding ear this time.

As of this moment I may have only heard Forever's Gone, but I feel DRAMA DUO has some interesting songs that explore cool spaces. Maybe they're divergent from this track, or their catalog invariably drips in synths and marches to a drum-machine. Either way, I'm up to hear what they make and down to share it with y'all.
