Nick León's first album Profecía on Alpha Pup Records (mastered by Daddy Kev) is here! And it's damn good!

The introductory album to Nick León's production space, sound and mind is an extremely interesting one, with well-nourished sounds exceedingly easy to get lost in.

I believe the nine-track album takes you further down this rabbit hole. Nick's sounds come as organic (in a naturalist frame) as sounds can get. There's a fantastic use of various nature noises -- e.g. the calmness of a peaceful river closing out Dream State (feat. Faeryteeth,) to bird chirps, and the inexplicable enjoyment of the sound of rain in a consistent free fall. Nick León meshes it all so well with a brought-on primal fear that resonates through alternating drums (programmed and hand) that teeter on the ritual and chanting side, allowing Profecía to feel like a survival journey through the world's deepest, most exotic and dangerous places. From the start of this album ( Gonawindua,) to the end (Aluna,) this LP felt like it was outside. Songs like Guilt Society bring a wet texture. The high use of a wide range of percussion instruments and different wind/string/woodwind instruments bring every minuscule noise to life. Nick built an Indiana Jones-like atmosphere, solely created through a life-like elemental production direction that is beyond enjoyable. I advise you all to give these sample tracks a listen below, then go purchase Nick León's Profecía on Itunes. It's something different that's sure to be around a while.
