Marko The Mad Digitizes Innocent Love on Vibrant - "86 Connection"

I'm always up for different, a tad more fun and lighter music; in fact, I prefer it more often than not. And BTTE alumn Marko The Mad has the fun vibrancy dripping all over his self-produced 86 Connection that I needed.

Marko's 86 Connection is his best song, in my opinion. I, of course, really like all the hard records, but 86 Connection reverts back to a very innocent time through a polychromatic sound. This beat that Marko created is his best through his use of 808s and drums, a refreshing feeling and sound in a musical space where the same formula is used for both. Marko The Mad's 808s have that classic 80's electro-pop dingy poppy sound that embraces the entire rhythm/composer aspect of a TR-808 machine. He uses a TR-808 Rhythm Composer's unrealistically campy drum kit and his misty keys (with a minor progression) to throw in an extra animated bounce to the track. 86 Connection in sound feels like a forever shifting rubix cube that plays music. It was fun. It was interesting to discover. It was a joy to sit with. It's such a differently familiar sound that truly makes Marko The Mad's auto-tune hit the ear in the best way and it was used at the most appropriate time.

Marko's vocals throw 86 Connection even further back into the 80's. His vocals are happy, with the right amount of robotic touch so I began to feel this electric connection he's singing about. The connection and relationship he sings about is what's innocent about 86 Connection. It all stems from this light infatuation with one another and just rubs off as sweet. I really like it. I pictured that My Girl type of relationship where you're a little kid confused about liking someone. That cootie phase, if you will. This sound is one Marko The Mad kills. 86 Connection is like a gum drop tale and I would love to hear more tracks in this space from Marko. It's a memorable one.
