I missed MTFR's MadeOnMonday Vol 1, but I caught Vol 2 -- and this is by far MTFR's most elite rapping, in my opinion. This two track EP is cold-hearted, very exposing and belligerent.

MTFR busts in the doors with the first track, Awkward Conversations With People. ACWP brings out the true merc in Matt: he's fed up in his verse, he's ready to kill everything and he's coming for heads if your bars can't stack up with his own. And likely they won't. MTFR is snatching his dominance over others instead of waiting for the people to universally deem him as such or pan him as less. He's working with the beat's meditating keys that emit a strong feeling of discomfort and plump drums that hit like the knock at the door you'll regret answering. Everything on this joint works in assisting MTFR's conquest to establish his footing in this rap world and it works. I think it's dope.

The true highlight of MadeOnMonday Vol 2 is Awkward Conversations With Myself. The drums are richer and have a creep to them. There's tenebrous synths that sound like it's pulling in energy to launch a beam. It makes the atmosphere of the song thick and I believe allows MTFR to do his thing a lot more smoothly. And it is smooth. Matt spits with a pure chip on his shoulder, giving us a look at who he is and where he stands from a rap/life standpoint. He comes with harsh wordplay, a plethora of witty lines, a beyond colder than real life reference to Nas' Ether and how it bodied Jay (Nas did win) and turns Jay into a metaphor -- it's just a high level of rapping that I appreciate. MTFR snapped every second on this little EP. He's killing it and he's going to continue to do so. So do yourself a favor and peep this dude's music. I'm sure you won't regret it.
