Ah, it's always a beautiful morning coming across music that's new to me. It's always great to enjoy a genre that you have no familiarity with at all, and luckily with Lemaitre's "Stepping Stone" (feat. Mark Johns) off their recent EP "1749" (check back to 'Back To The Elements' soon for the complete EP), I get to enjoy all that and then some.
I don't even know how to begin to classify this song. Is it Electronic Rock? Purely Electronic? Is it Indietronica? I'm not sure. All I know is good music is good music and this is good god damn music. "Stepping Stone" immediately boosts my entire mood. The blaring synths that sound like they're mimicking a guitar riff, then become a dope-ass bassline infused with a very simple, ecstasy-filled drum machine beat is so satisfying to all my senses. The music immerses me with the energy of being at a music festival, with the synths transporting me to the computer world a la Finn & Jake from "Adventure Time". Mark Johns dope futuristic, eager for adventure-sounding vocals add to that world for me. I pictured myself floating with the clouds, completely immortal and unbothered by the worries of the world. It was awesome! I always love it when I genuinely feel every ounce of the music, and that never lets up with "Stepping Stone". Lemaitre really killed it with this song. This is my first song I've ever heard from the duo or anything from Mark Johns. I can happily say, though, that they've all gained a new fan.
