Skizzy Mars Supplies the Drugs, Alcohol and Great Times with His New Track "Alcoholics"

If summer and college life had a soundtrack it would be Skizzy Mars' music. This dude knows how to capture the moment of a great night and transfer it right into his music to deliver the most fun tracks. That was proven on "The Red Balloon Project" and Mars does it again with his new song "Alcoholics" (prod. by Michael Keenan).

First off, I love this song. It's so addictive, lifts my spirit and speaks to me as an eighteen-year old transitioning into manhood. "Alcoholics" has this free, misunderstood, adolescent sound and feeling. The beat has these cool defiant bass drums with a lot of conviction. There's the sounds of steel drums making the song feel like a beach party, the rapid 808s become pronounced around the hook and they make me think of the fast-paced life we teenagers are always trying to live. The song immediately captures the lives of eighteen- to twenty-somethings and it might be one of the most relatable songs I've ever heard. However, the true magic is in Skizzy's verses. His flow sounds so unsure of what's next to come, but completely lost and in love with the moment. The verses and addicting hook explore experimenting with drugs and alcohol. The quick instances of auto-tune on his voice creates the notion that everyone at this party is zooted. It's a great use of auto-tune that again brings this entire scenario to life. "Alcoholics" is a refreshing take on this drug addict type of space that music is in right now. It's a true Skizzy Mars song that perfectly brings Skizzy season into full effect.
