President Barack Obama Picking Kendrick Lamar's "How Much A Dollar Cost" as His Favorite Song of 2015 Proves Kendrick is the G.O.A.T

I try to keep this blog strictly about the music as much I possibly can. Outside of new music and sharing it with you guys I really don't care about all the gossip, the artists' personal lives or anything like that. But when something as cool as President Barack Obama announcing that his favorite song of 2015 being Kendrick Lamar's "How Much A Dollar Cost" I just have to put in my two cents.

First things first, let's commend the leader of the free world on bumping the greatest album of the year. "To Pimp A Butterfly" is without a doubt a classic album and its greatness can no longer be denied by anyone. Now, let's focus on the President's pick. Outside of "Complexion (A Zulu Love)", "How Much A Dollar Cost" is one of the most underrated songs off the album. It comes right after "Hood Politics" and "HP" has such a demanding, recognizable sound with the most memorable lines that I can see why it gets overlooked. With that being said, "How Much A Dollar Cost" just might be the most impressive song on the album. The entire rapport that Kendrick creates between him and the homeless man is beyond compelling. King Kunta takes us to every thought in his head about the situation while effortlessly transitioning into the words of the homeless man, instilling in us the lessons that he learned. Kendrick's actions of not showing this man an ounce of compassion at first and creating all these negative preconceived thoughts about what he's done and what he wants is so real. K. Dot having these thoughts represent him being plagued by Lucy and Uncle Sam so much that he can't let go of a dollar or see that this homeless man is God testing him. Lamar's gluttony and overall selfishness cost him his spot in Heaven. It is truly powerful. His verses are rapped from a different point of view, his storytelling is at its finest - blatantly showing why Kendrick Lamar is the best out now and in the top ten all time. This time with 2Pac (all shots at Billboard). Dot has been my top rapper since "C4" and the top rapper since "Overly Dedicated" and his position hasn't shifted. Obama is right on with his pick. Personally, "Momma" is my favorite from "To Pimp A Butterfly" but I respect Obama's pick. That is my President.
