Nitty Scott Lights Up Sway In The Morning with Her Lethally Eye-Opening Freestyle

There are many rappers and only a few MC's. The MC is a small circle within the hip hop realm that is tough to become a part of. The first few artists out now that come to mind as an MC to me: Kendrick Lamar, Jay Electronica (even with no new album) and Nitty Scott. They're only three of my quintessential MC's who can murder with a sixteen at the drop of a hat, then turn around and make a dope record loved by the streets and receive praise for the skill they possess. Nitty Scott did just that with her latest appearance on Sway In The Morning.

The incredibly dope freestyle that Nitty kicked was straight acapella. Now I've always known Nitty Scott could rhyme, ever since I first saw her when she was a part of the 2011 BET cyphers. But when she spits something acapella her words are that much more mesmerizing. I was hung up on every line. There was this perfect balance of message and mean so the points she made had a lot of weight to them. Especially when she says 'I rock a skirt so I can piss upon your feminine hate/loving my p*ssy is a spiritual trait'. She blatantly puts her beliefs front and center. It's not only a bar that you have to respect, but it checks one's male perspective of looking at women and also how women should love themselves. The entire freestyle is Scott claiming her love for herself, recognizing and loving the sexual being that she is because there's nothing wrong with that, and just being a dope person and artist in general. And whether you agree or disagree with what she's saying it sparks the conversation, which is important.

This acapella freestyle (and overall interview) is definitely a great one . Nitty Scott was flawless so it probably isn't off top, but her flow has desperation and her word play is clever. What she did with the word Gemini is so simple yet it's always the simple lines that can make a bar stand out and give it personality. She instills all of that in each word of the freestyle, all of which I strongly felt. She proves time and again that virtually no one can truly see her bar for bar and I agree. Nitty Scott, MC, is lethal on the mic. I loved "The Art of Chill" but if she's coming like this on her forthcoming EP "Creature" that's gonna be a project I need to hear ASAP!

Check out the freestyle (17:50) and full interview below.
