Jahrahmf Teams Up With Jxk For Their Cold Song "Numb"

Looks like Jahrahmf and Jxk are gonna be two frequent collaborators, and if so I have no problem as long as we keep getting the dope tracks they're putting out. The latest song out the vault is "Numb" (prod. by both Jah and Jxk) and it's such a smooth track that I think it will get a car jumpin'.

The beat on "Numb" is nothing short of something I'd expect from Jah (and even Jxk at this point) with a few small surprises. For one, the bass on this track will make any speaker convulse. Jahrah and Jxk really made sure their drums packed a contagious muffled wallop that actually created a numbing affect. The bass knocked so consistently throughout the entire song that "Numb" had an emotionless atmosphere to it, in a good way. Of course there was an 808 drop, but this is when the song started to surprise me. The 808s are mindlessly killer. They don't have a motive or emotion in them. They're just vigorously hitting towards the kill, detaching further from humanity and it goes perfectly with Jah's verse and hook. Although quick, Jahrahmf spits and sings about the things he's gone through that make him feel emotionally numb. The hook didn't start out as my favorite part of the song but after a few listens I decided that it's actually the best part. I can hear the final cut from all the feelings in his voice. He raps and sings with such helplessness that trying to bring him back from the state of numbness he's in seems futile by the end of the song.

They even top that feeling with this extraterrestrial sound effect at the start and end off the beat. The sheer sound of it created another layer of isolation between Jah and his feelings. The otherworldly implications made me think that Jahrahmf's numb feelings created something other than human ones, hence the alien sound effects. It was by far the dopest moment in any one of his songs. I think "Numb" is a strong way to end the year. I definitely can't wait until 2016 to hear what's next.
