Mac Miller Continues His Streak with the Visuals for "Clubhouse"

It's always a good day when something new from Mac Miller drops. Mac's track "Clubhouse" is the latest song off "GO:OD AM" to get visuals and I think we all love Mac even more for this one.

The video starts out with a shot of a pool and a group of synchronized swimmers gathering around it. It quickly cuts to Mac Miller rapping in the lobby of the indoor pool until the main focus soon becomes the synchronized swimmers in the pool. I found that all of these visuals won't make sense unless you're truly listening to Mac. The visuals for "Clubhouse" aren't suppose to make the song clearer, the visuals are simply metaphors for Mac's lyrics and if you already got the song just off the audio you get the video. It was clear to me from the jump, the pool represents all the things in Mac's life that can cause him to drown, e.g. drugs, women, that straight party lifestyle and everything it entails.

Ultimately Mac Miller ends up in the pool, succumbing to the things it looked like he was preparing for the whole time in the video. By the end of the video it's just him, alone and passed out floating in the pool with beer cans surrounding him. The visuals are so blatantly metaphorical yet at the same time they correlate with the lyrics so well that it would be easy for it all to go over someone's head. That's what makes "Clubhouse" translate into such a good video. It'll make someone run it back multiple times just to try to understand it. And I love that. I couldn't have asked for a better video. I can't wait to see the next visuals from "GO:OD AM". If there will be any, that is.
