Kendrick Lamar Puts on an Extraordinary Performance with the National Symphony Orchestra

I think it's safe to say that it is no longer opinion that Kendrick Lamar is one of the greatest performers we have today. King Kunta kicked off his Kunta's Groove Session tour last night and completely killed it. Kendrick got together with the National Symphony Orchestra to perform "To Pimp A Butterfly" and it was an amazing experience just watching the video. When Kendrick said these shows would be intimate he wasn't lying. I felt the connection he had with his fans. He was vocal with them while getting them all involved, pointing out some individuals and he knew things about those certain people. I felt the love in the room which made the songs more personal and real. As he performed "Alright" it felt like it was being chanted at another protest. "i" had more funk, more soul. He was rapping beyond the crowd and each passionate word definitely resonated with them. The Isley Brothers' influence on the song bloomed in a cool way. It was therapeutic and uplifting. I was really taken away by it all.

The way Kendrick performed "These Walls", "Mortal Man" and "The Blacker the Berry" was powerful. You can tell when an artist believes in what he or she is saying and that's what I saw. He put his emotions into the songs and nothing felt or looked fake. It was one hundred percent him and it made the entire experience of the show complete.

This was another amazing performance by Kendrick Lamar. I can't stress enough how great and well-rounded of an artist he is and this performance should be proof of that. Now I'm just waiting on the live version of "TPAB" to be a full album for purchase. Then my life will be complete.

Check out the performance below.
