Yesterday Future shared another video with us, this time for "The Percocet & Stripper Joint". The song that is off his album "DS2" was the only track I genuinely liked. It was the only song that truly felt like it had some meaning behind it. The song didn't come off as being overly druggy and unnecessarily auto-tuned like majority of the album. Everything sounded like it served a purpose and the visuals fall into that same roll.
The video opens with Future Hendrix locked up in a motel room filled with strippers, money and drugs. That imagery already sets up that idea that Future is addicted to this type of lifestyle. Showing his people failing to contact him from outside the motel brings this insight about how he can't pull away from that rather destructive way of living. How they show him interacting with it all really brings the whole point of the song full circle. Future looks incredibly happy throughout the entire video. He's surrounded by all these potentially harmful vices, yet he is happy because he needs them. They are the only things that make him feel good and allow him to escape from the outside world. Those specific visuals and interactions bring the song's dark nature to life and I really like that. You feel the dependency that he has and his inner conflict to be around it all. It all has a deeper and more serious meaning than Future's other songs or videos to me. And above all, it straight up sounds good. I can get behind his music and videos when it gravitates more towards this direction. He does dark with more meaning than usual pretty well.
