Lil B & Chance The Rapper Spread Love & Positivity With The "Free Based Freestyles Mixtape"

Normally I wouldn't plunge into a complete mixtape so quickly, but I have to show Lil B and Chance The Rapper's new project "Free Based Freestyles Mixtape" some love.

The mixtape from the two rappers was speculated to happen a few weeks ago but I didn't know we were going to get it so soon. This surprise release and interesting collaboration is a moment where hip-hop is at it's most fun and vibrant. The mixtape is all organic, the verses from Chance and The Based God are freestyled and it truly reflects in the sound. It all sounds like raw music pulled from a radio station. That sound brings something new to the table that can be appreciated in a rap world filled with a lot of jaded music (mostly Trap and Drill) that sounds the same.

Some of the beats throughout the tape are very majestic-sounding to me. For instance, the song "First Mixtape BASED FREESTYLE" sounds like a remixed beat from the game "Dark Cloud". It really adds to the loving sentiment of this project. I loved how some of the songs feel tailor-made for Chance and some fit better for Based God, like "Amen BASED FREESTYLE", the nine-minute track that sounds like it came straight off of "Surf". The track is a great assist that attracts fans of Chance over a lot easier and those fans can associate that sound of "Surf" with "Amen BASED FREESTYLE" and enjoy the song a lot more.

I think Lil B and Chance The Rapper pulled off something very good here. They're spreading the love and good times with this mixtape. Of course there's hidden food in their verses, but it's all just rapped appreciation for each other and other rappers. I would love to see more collabs coming from these two in the future because we all can appreciate them and this project. Thank you Chance and The Based God. We love you.
