Omen's Debut Album "Elephant Eyes" is a Trip Down His Memory Lane

Omen's debut album "Elephant Eyes" showed us why patience is a virtue. The Dreamville rapper takes you through his own personal memory lane and it's very relatable. Omen walks you to places from his past and introduces you to encounters he's had with women and various people. It's very much a trip into Omen's mind and memories, yet he makes them connect with your own.

His song "Things Change" (which features his Dreamville brother J. Cole) paints a picture of the people they use to be, past things they were told and how they are now because of these events. It makes us think about ourselves and how we've changed. It's a dope sequence that makes this album special and appreciated. The album as a whole should be acknowledged as a project that knows where it's going from the first song. It may be short, coming up at eleven songs, but each song succeeds at pulling us further into his world. As much as this is about Omen's personal growth into a man and rapper, it is just as much about his love woes. He displays the love story aspect on songs like "Elephant Eyes" and "Same Jezebel". The balance he finds between rapping about love and his personal growth gives everything a complete feel.

Omen's smooth flow on each song and the slick beats to match brings a whole new maturity to his music. There is wisdom about life, storytelling, and good songs to simply chill out to. If Omen wasn't already on your radar, then he should be after this album. There's nowhere to go but up for this guy.
