Joey Bada$$' "Summer Knights" Turns Two: Reminisce With the Top 4 Tracks

Joey Bada$$' 2013 mixtape "Summer Knights" is two years old today! In honor of his sophomore mixtape (excluding "Rejex") we'll be divulging into the best tracks off the tape.

Between Joey's classic tape "1999" and debut album "B4.DA.$$" people tend to forget about the quality mixtape he dropped called "Summer Knights". Looking at the production side of it, his sophomore effort is technically sound. With producers like MF DOOM, The Alchemist, DJ Premier and many other top-tier producers what else would you expect? Joey's flows are also extremely versatile throughout this tape. Which brings us to the first of the four best songs on here.

Joey's song "My Yout" is the perfect song that really took Joey's flow to a great place. The Caribbean and Jamaican influences are extremely present in this song. It comes off as an ode to St. Lucia where his family originates from so it's special in that regard. Pair that up with the beautiful visuals of the island for the video and you have a dope experience. You can check that out below.

Next in line has to be "95 Til Infinity". The heavy bass and his heavy and relentlessness authoritative style really lets you feel Joey's presence. He impresses with his lyrical content. It's Joey flexing on the mic and I love it. You can peep the video for this song below.

This next song is one of Joey's most personal in my mind. His song "#LongLiveSteelo" really hits home for Pro Era fans. Joey really opens up about his pro on this track, it's how he does it that makes this song second best on the tape. I get the feeling that it was more for Capital STEEZ than it was for Joey. Of course Joey wrote it for himself but with the intent of STEEZ needs to hear this so he'll be alright too. It's a good song with great sentiments that can help anyone going through the feeling of losing someone. You can check out the un-offical video below.

Time for "Summer Knights" best song. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that really knows this tape: Joey's track "Unorthodox". Joey really shines on this song. He has the perfect blend of being that conscious rapper, braggadocios, and little gems that is food for thought. All to a Premier beat ,too. Joey Bada$$ really gave you a taste of what he can do and it left me and many others impressed.

You can watch the video below. Happy Birthday "Summer Knights".
