His latest video for "Paper Trail$" is a perfect visual representation for the lyrics. It opens with him literally on a paper trail. The video takes you through Joey's trials to get his money and reach his goals. There is some good because of this. But the destruction of chasing a dollar is shown as well. This video successfully shows money being the root of people and evil.
It shows Joey's world around him changing. Hence, "Cash ruined everything around me" which is paying homage to Wu-Tang Clan's original C.R.E.A.M., "Cash rules everything around me". The struggles his mother went through are shown, so are Joey's steps to becoming a rapper. Joey sells the Jordans that he won earlier in the video. He comes back home with a Nike box with a mic inside and cash.
He sold his sole for his new life, opting to trade his Nikes for his new life.
Joey connects so much in this video. Long-term Joey fans will really appreciate this. Real Hip-Hop heads will appreciate the DJ Premier-produced beat. We can all enjoy the visuals of his story.
