Happy Birthday To The Legend: Eazy-E!

In honor of Eazy-E's birthday, we're going to acknowledge the key hand the late, great rapper had in introducing a new sound to hip-hop and why we still love him.

Whether you've listened to Eazy since his emergence into the hip-hop realm, grew up immersed in his music from kindergarten up until now (like I did) or just discovered him when you went to see "Straight Outta Compton" (like the rest of you) you should already know how vital E was to hip-hop and why he always will be. The Compton native, widely deemed to be the godfather of Gangsta Rap, gave the sub genre the blueprint for the proper attitude needed to be a part of that world. He was the personality and the humor in a universe that was exclusively seen as violent by the outside people looking in. Of course his lyrics were raw, graphic and not for the overly sensitive, but they were so much more than that. His debut album "Eazy-Duz-It" (which is a classic) goes over many people's heads but it has that "more" that I was talking about. "Eazy-Duz-It" displays Eazy's talents for storytelling. Most wouldn't associate E with the art of storytelling but the song "Nobody Move" is without a doubt one of the best examples of that. The way he takes you through the whole robbery, is able to be comical and have a convincing attitude was something only Eazy-E could do and it will never be replicated.

Eazy-E's music is timeless. It doesn't matter if it's a solo project or a project from N.W.A. it's all special and Eric Lynn Wright's finger prints are all over it. Not to mention his flow is so iconic. If Eazy's rapping, you'll know it's him. There is no mistaking a legend.

Happy Birthday Eazy-E. Rest In Peace. We'll all bump for you today.
