Oakland's Elujay is another artist out here making an unmatched splash in music. I personally believe he's in the bracket of Monte Booker, Smino Brown, and the like. Like them, he's dominant in the Internet space music resides in. And Elujay's latest release, Golden, is the sonic equivalent of don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

The Julia Lewis, Kev Choice and Chris McClenny produced song is a downright celebration. The production's blossoming of short block chords has a broken out of key sound. There's a creamy pianissimo chord progression that moisturizes the entire sound.

A wavy bassline is accompanied by a chest beating bass drum. The rhythm hits you in the hips, but the music had control of my neck. Golden's beat drop brings a flaring of the club beat; I visualize a multi-colored checkered floor sporadically lighting up. The fabulous attitude-having claps are infectious. Subtle glass clinks in the production ring like that feeling of togetherness after a toast. There's an energy to this production that hits like a refusal to dance at a pool party. Elujay's vocal performance is what sets Golden off, illuminating all the beautiful women that inspired this song.

Elujay's vocals sound entranced by women's magic, lost in wonderment at who they are and what they can be, in awe at the natural glint of our queen's melanin. His lyrics from the chorus "that skin is golden like an ocean filled with Hennessy" is its own energy of black love. Elujay's vocals sit so well with the bass drum and claps, the melody atop the beat's rhythm is like ice cold lemonade -- refreshing. Golden is a total stand with women, but black women especially. It's a movement we all need to dig, just in case the #WomensMarch taught you nothing.
